The GOP needs to take responsibility for their loss

Image
If I don’t pay a bill, I lose the service, if I don’t do my job no amount of redistricting saves my job, I get fired. My Mom told me be careful what you wish for because you just might get it and sometimes I got it and never in the way I wanted. This is the same thing that the GOP is facing. They got what they wanted…or not…they wanted Obama out and obstructed American progress to do it and America came out in droves to defeat their plans and without gerrymandered districts from the Red Sweep of 2010 Democrats would’ve taken the House like we did in ‘06. I find it amazing that the GOP tells us: the poor, those of us who work hard to take responsibility for our lives but refuse to learn from this loss in 2012. Also, I don’t see them telling businesses that they are responsible for the huge deficit by paying no money in taxes but getting millions of dollars back from the big government they swear is the problem until it is the solution. IF the GOP wants to be competitive th...

Marriage Equality Affirmed and Democrats have a good year!!!

This year was a great year for marriage and Democrats: Let's take a look at some of the things that happened during the 2012 Elections:  ME Q1 rejected their new marriage law by a 57-43% margin, by 14 points in 2009. MD like ME and WA passed a Civil Marriage and Religious Freedom Act that was put on the ballot promptly by opponents of marriage equality. Those measures are Q6 and R74 MN in May 2011 needed a simple majority in both chambers of the Legislature (37-27 in the Senate and 70-62 in the House) to pass a constitutional amendment to the people “resolving” the question of gay marriage. Like NC they have a statute that is in place regardless. That statute is being challenged in the Benderson v. Alvarez case and could be overturned. The Catholic Church in MN said that this is why we need Amendment 1 in MN because of the challenged statute. Something of note is Sen Dibble who said I can’t see how anyone could think that my marriage would hurt someone else. Rep...

An election 4 years in the making

Image
So the election is over and we hope we can get back to business right? Well, after some gloating we did in 2012 and the shellacking we took in 2010 along with the devastation in 2004 that was a mixed blessing I wanted to look back at this Presidential campaign and just laught it up that I ever thought about three of the scariest words in the English Language: President Mitt Romney So, let me start at 2004. I read an article that said that 2004 was a mixed blessing because people got tired of the Republeconomics and voted for a Democratic House in 2006, had Kerry won in 2004 they argued the Republicans would’ve been a stick in the mud and caused obstruction that we are so used to seeing now. That would’ve kerplunked any idea of bipartisanship and President Kerry would’ve taken the heat for it as Bill Clinton did when he ran things. The same way Obama does but now due to the volume of the obstruction and the instantaneousness of the news, we can see the truth and ch...
