I saw some footage of an exchange between Louie Gohmert R-TX and AG Eric Holder where Gohmert accused Holder of not taking a Congressional investigation seriously and Holder finally had the spine to stand up to Gohmert and say “You don’t wanna go there, don’t assume that this isn’t important to me” and then Gohmert shot back that Congress was trying to get to the bottom of Fast & Furious where “innocent Mexicans died” of course that was a dig at the administration, don’t confuse it with sincere regard for the Mexicans who were allegedly killed Afterward at an NAACP speech, Holder said “Forget that it’s me, when have you EVER seen an Attorney General Of the United States treated like I was by a House Panel?” Everyone attended knew exactly what he was talking about, it was a dog whistle of a different sort, calling out racism without exactly using the term racism. Some news of the Week The GOP budget plan that was voted on by the House a few months ago has come to an abrupt, screeching halt as lawmakers are forced to recognize that it simply will not work. The Ryan budget was passed in the House along party lines last March — and almost didn’t pass at all, as 10 Republican representatives voted with the 197 Democrats against it, making the final vote tally 221-207. This year was a great year for marriage and Democrats: Let's take a look at some of the things that happened during the 2012 Elections:  ME Q1 rejected their new marriage law by a 57-43% margin, by 14 points in 2009. MD like ME and WA passed a Civil Marriage and Religious Freedom Act that was put on the ballot promptly by opponents of marriage equality. Those measures are Q6 and R74 MN in May 2011 needed a simple majority in both chambers of the Legislature (37-27 in the Senate and 70-62 in the House) to pass a constitutional amendment to the people “resolving” the question of gay marriage. Like NC they have a statute that is in place regardless. That statute is being challenged in the Benderson v. Alvarez case and could be overturned. The Catholic Church in MN said that this is why we need Amendment 1 in MN because of the challenged statute. So the election is over and we hope we can get back to business right?
