How Coming Out Made Me A Better Man

Welcome to the Blog Everyone! So…I was on Youtube yesterday watching some RavenEntertainmenttv ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGCrmVQk-3M ) and he talked about a sort of before and after with coming out as a focal point and I decided to kind of say my peace on it. Coming out is a real revolutionary thing for yourself mainly because you have to come out to yourself first and get familiar with what that means for the world you’re living in and I don’t mean Earth but your corner of it. My Universe before coming out was filled with inner turmoil pulling from society, religion and myself. I remember a few times in school people asked If I were a boy or girl, once I tried to cut green sweatpants into shorts and because I’m tall it looked like Capris and I was pretty androgynous back then because I had a hat on and I was overweight…with moobs…and fair skinned. If I wanted to do drag back then that would’ve been the perfect time for me. Once at a Teen Haven Meeting (Christian Youth G...

The Booing of Stephen Snyder-Hill

Hey all, Welcome to the Spencer Hamilton Blog! http://www.latimes.com/local/la-me-hidden-man-20131229-dto,0,4485047.htmlstory#ixzz2ov0kNEhU ” I recently found an article from a facebook friend of mine Steven Hill now Snyder-Hill, and I’m brought back to a day in September 2011 when the GOP were holding a primary debate. Who would be the triumphant candidate? , Herman “Godfather” Cain, Rick “Frothy” Santorum, Michelle “Batshit” Bachmann, Newt Swingrich or the Ron Paul EVOLution? Steven Hill, on duty in Iraq close to the time DADT repeal would be fully done had   a question that needed asking, one that could determine whether or not Steven Hill would have a future in the US Army What happened next was shocking. The Question: In 2010, when I was deployed to Iraq, I had to lie about who I was because I'm a gay soldier and I didn't want to lose my job. My question is, under one of your presidencies, do you intend to circumvent the progress that's been made for gay a...

News Roundup Marriage in New Mexico, Voter ID Challenges in TX and NC, New welcomes to the Family

In New Mexico there’s a flurry going on about marriage equality and whether or not the issuing of marriage licenses is legal or not. New Mexico has a gender neutral marriage law so it’s anyone’s guess. Prior to this, I did a video that talked about the NM Supreme Court being asked to intervene to interpret the law and grant marriage equality In that state. Meanwhile, a woman dying of a terminal illness wants to marry her partner. The Governor of that state has also called for a vote to send a ban on marriage equality to the people saying it is better decided by the people of the state…to me that sounds like the slavery dodge when voters said: we’ll be slave state or we’ll be free…if anyone doesn’t know what Bleeding Kansas is, it’s simply when Missouri said we’ll kill all the abolitionists and hopefully that’ll be a slave state too. It backfired as voters called it a free state and all those lives were lost. So, while it’s a different situation an...

Coming Out: Why?

I am a young gay black man who had watched a parody of a young man coming out to his Mother the parody is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVAtVil3oWo you can pretty much tell it’s a parody especially given the wording that the ‘mother’ uses. However, the reality is that many parents who are religious may try to convince their child that the devil is in them or that gay people are horrible and need to be changed. But what is coming out about? Why is it necessary for those in our lives as gay people to know that we’re gay? What is all that about? Personally, I have always thought that one thing in any relationship that is central is honesty. I remember watching Mambo Italiano and hearing him explain that he wanted to tell his parents because he wanted them to know the real him. One person said to me: Now that I know you’re gay I can get to know who you are fully. It is that spirit which makes coming out so necessary for many people, we don’t desire—most of us to tell...

DL Men are Victims Too

Image
Hello All, Today I am going to talk about a oft neglected viewpoint that is easily seen when it’s looked at objectively. I submit to you that the closeted men henceforth referred to as DL men are as much a victim as the women are. I will also indict Ex gay movements as a driving force as well as societal stigma and a host of other reasons that I believe DL men are as much a victim as women are. I was gay since I was 7, and people would say: How do you know what you like if you never had a girl before? Well, I would flip that back and ask them how do they know they don’t like the same sex if they never tried it before? Now, if they tried it and found it wasn’t for them—great, we are not all that adventurous, I have been a vegetarian since birth and I will continue to be such. I grew up hearing that gay people were sick, perverts out to destroy the family, harm kids and weren’t at all respectable or worth looking at as role models. Now we have Ellen, The First Openly Lesbia...

My First Attempt At Coming Out

Image
Hi Everyone, I thought about my first time trying to come out and I really  tried to come out today, and I remember just about every detail of the exchange even though the person I tried to come out to could not. He had a hostile reaction so I said something different. He couldn't recall years later and said: I don't remember. At that time I felt like Cpt. Nero in Star Trek (2009) when he shouts at Cpt. Pike: Don't tell me it didn't happen I saw it happen, don't tell me it didn't happen! Background I was in college, really trying to figure out who I was, I knew I liked guys and I kept feeling that I was a freak or something because of it. I would spend nights praying to be straight, just desperately hoping I would wake up and decide to be straight. I would say that I liked women and some of them I really did, but I realized that when it came right down to it, the emotional connection was there, but not the sexual one. I couldn't have brought myself ...
