DL Men are Victims Too

Image
Hello All, Today I am going to talk about a oft neglected viewpoint that is easily seen when it’s looked at objectively. I submit to you that the closeted men henceforth referred to as DL men are as much a victim as the women are. I will also indict Ex gay movements as a driving force as well as societal stigma and a host of other reasons that I believe DL men are as much a victim as women are. I was gay since I was 7, and people would say: How do you know what you like if you never had a girl before? Well, I would flip that back and ask them how do they know they don’t like the same sex if they never tried it before? Now, if they tried it and found it wasn’t for them—great, we are not all that adventurous, I have been a vegetarian since birth and I will continue to be such. I grew up hearing that gay people were sick, perverts out to destroy the family, harm kids and weren’t at all respectable or worth looking at as role models. Now we have Ellen, The First Openly Lesbia...

Ditching Condoms in Long Term Relationships

Hello All, I am giving some thoughts on barebacking. Barebacking is simply having sex without condoms. Now, for a straight couple that means a baby  in 9 months, in gay men it means HIV/AIDS, now I know lesbians get it too and straight people get it as well, but the fact is that when guys come out, I believe HIV becomes more of a thought than it would if you were straight. I remember sitting down with Darryl saying: I don't think white guys think about HIV often. He replied: I think about HIV and I'm white, to which I replied: It's because you're gay. Now, I have to admit that sometimes hanging out at a health center, I am paranoid a bit even though I'm careful and get tested regularly. In my relationship we don't use condoms, and have been completely faithful to one another. So, that begs a question that many gay couples ask: When is the time that it is okay to go 'raw' during a relationship. My opinion is this: Use condoms, and when it gets to t...

Why marriage?

After reading a book of the same title by George Chauncey (who testified in the Prop 8 trial) I began to think about the legacy of anti-gay discrimination against gay and lesbian people which included sodomy laws, firing from their government jobs whether civilian or military, losing child custody once you were found out...so many things in your world can come crashing down once they knew about you. You could be arrested after being propositioned by a plainclothes policeman and your name printed in the paper, where you worked and lived and there was nothing you could do about it. Stonewall After Stonewall, things changed though not overnight in many places. In NYC, when the LGBT community had enough, beer bottles, stilettos, rocks, and whatever could be found had been hurled at the policeman. THey had to take refuge in the same place they raided--the bar. I believe reinforcements came and they were routed, no one really remembers piece by piece what happened that nigh...
