The LGB and T conundrum

ALL RISE! Court is now in session The Honorable Judge Terry Purdue Presiding Thank You All, Please Be Seated Today I am called to rule on an issue that is in fact contentious. It is Gay Inc v. Trans Group. There are allegations on both sides that neither side is doing enough to advance gender equality. Gay Inc says that they are willing to work with Trans Group in order to pass GENDA, a statewide law that would protect transgender and gender nonconforming individuals as well. Trans Group alleges that since NY enacted marriage equality in the state, the Transgender community has been left to its own devices. Experts on both sides have testified of the history of SONDA and how GENDA was a component taken out to ensure passage. SONDA did pass the Senate with a vote of 34-26 on December 7, 2002 and went into effect on January 16, 2003. The allegation that the trans community was told that they'd come back for them is also lodged and is true. From 2002 on, GENDA has consistently pa...

Uganda Gay Rights Group Sues American Hate Exporter Scott Lively

Image
Hello All, I had seen a lot of stories on this event and I have to say one thing: About time. I personally am sick and tired of hate exporters who like to go to other underdeveloped countries and exploit the religious nature of the people in that country and pass unconstitutional laws that will not only criminalize but many times call for the death penalty against gay 'activity' or 'behavior'. I put that in quotes because a lot of times one can tell you exactly what it is outside of something sexual. Scott Lively is such a person who testifies in such countries, like Latvia and other Eastern European countries that have a more conservative bend to them and peddling lies that mobilize the religious right here. Echoing things that Prop 8 supporters said time and time again about children being harmed by just knowing that gay families exist, that if marriage equality is enacted pedophiles will have access to our children, that children will grow up wondering if they sho...

George Maziarz sponsors a Stand Your Ground Law

Hello All  That troll of a Senator (R-NY 62) fills me with nothing but disdain, contempt, revulsion, abhorrence, loathing nausea, and every time I see him I just picture that troll like thing in Lord of The Rings saying: “Precious, My Precious” it is not only the fact that he voted to protect bullies by voting against the Dignity for All Students Act that prohibited bullying based on EVERY CONCEIVABLE category imaginable, but because he cited that it didn’t cover cyber bullying and he made no such attempt to introduce such an amendment he just wanted to vote against it out of animus of the LGBT community. Also, he has interfered in local politics and it is said that nothing happens in his district that he doesn’t know about in the GOP. He wants to control EVERYTHING and it is that control that will backfire. I believe people are tired of him and they have had enough. I have looked at him and heard many stories of him and I have to say that he is a terrible human be...

Gay "Allies" who are transphobic

Image
Hey Yall, I recently was very appalled to find out that a person who liked OUTspoken for Equality (a group I admin on facebook) and commented on a recent post was and I quote " I'm a big fan of Gay and Lesbian equality BUT I resent the trans group using gay & lesbians as their ticket to ride. " However, the problem is this: Don't gay and lesbian community always hear that from the Homophobic elements of the Black Community too? The "Civil Rights Mantra" is often used against us because we can 'de-gay ourselves' I've recently watched a movie that made it seem like gay equality would take away the progress of the black community, and that to say that the black and gay struggles are similar is to open Pandora's box. Well, I submit to you that it is already opened and protections based on race haven't eroded, and still homophobic elements of the black community use the conduct v. race card. But what's even more troubling is w...

The Definition of Family

Image
I will forever wonder why people feel as if family is only defined by those who are related to us by blood or adoption. Adoption usually is a legal process in which a child under 18 becomes a part of your family, often called a forever family. Yet, I also say that this is not the only definition of adoption, because I've adopted people into my family and no legal paperwork has been filled out. It is because family to me is not solely defined on if we all look alike or are related by blood. I often found that family is a closeness, indicated by your willingness to become a part of a family, like church, fraternities, sororities, groups of people who have one or or more things in common and are active in their lives on a consistent basis. I have to say that I have family that folks at the American Family Council would say are not my family. As crazy as my Lovey's family is, I consider them family only because I'm there and I'll have to deal with them if Darryl and ...

The Dominica Arrests: I See And Say Nothing

Image
Okay, so the story goes like this: We were 'partially clothed' and they picked us out of a lineup and said: we were having sex on the balcony. Then this incriminating photo surfaces and the egg on their faces must be dropping on in torrents. Now, I would not be caught alive in a place where it is illegal for me to be gay with my Lovey having sex there when in most places not only is it illegal but we can be killed for it. I always say that common sense is not so common but this really takes the cake. Here the gay press was defending this couple and now the real story comes out. I've seen a share of stories in which the press--and even I myself have had a kneejerk reaction: Like the Dakota Ary ordeal out of Texas. The Right Wingers had a field day kicking around the football of him saying that homosexuality was wrong but a lot of LGBT positive press defended the kid saying that he had a right to say it even though it had nothing to do with what he was doing in c...

LGBT Youth

Image
Hello All, I’ve always been thinking about the next generation and what world I want to leave them. I’ve always thought that no matter what I want the youth that I deal with to know one simple truth: That I care about them, that I love them as they are, and that I will do all I can to help them grow into the beautiful butterfly they are. I don’t want another Billy Lucas, Raymond Chase, Zachary Harris or Justin Aaberg. In fact, it was reported that Justin’s younger brother was about to drown himself so that he’d see Justin again. It is terrible that Justin is gone from us physically, but also from his Mom, his family, his friends that loved him so much. Zachary Harris could’ve grown up to be a Doctor that found a cure for cancer, Raymond Chase could have been a scientist, chemist that could have come up with a cure for Alzheimer’s, he could’ve been the creative force behind the cure for HIV/AIDS, he could’ve been an entertainer that showed the injustice of America’s war...
