The GOP needs to take responsibility for their loss

Image
If I don’t pay a bill, I lose the service, if I don’t do my job no amount of redistricting saves my job, I get fired. My Mom told me be careful what you wish for because you just might get it and sometimes I got it and never in the way I wanted. This is the same thing that the GOP is facing. They got what they wanted…or not…they wanted Obama out and obstructed American progress to do it and America came out in droves to defeat their plans and without gerrymandered districts from the Red Sweep of 2010 Democrats would’ve taken the House like we did in ‘06. I find it amazing that the GOP tells us: the poor, those of us who work hard to take responsibility for our lives but refuse to learn from this loss in 2012. Also, I don’t see them telling businesses that they are responsible for the huge deficit by paying no money in taxes but getting millions of dollars back from the big government they swear is the problem until it is the solution. IF the GOP wants to be competitive th...

Marriage Equality Affirmed and Democrats have a good year!!!

This year was a great year for marriage and Democrats: Let's take a look at some of the things that happened during the 2012 Elections:  ME Q1 rejected their new marriage law by a 57-43% margin, by 14 points in 2009. MD like ME and WA passed a Civil Marriage and Religious Freedom Act that was put on the ballot promptly by opponents of marriage equality. Those measures are Q6 and R74 MN in May 2011 needed a simple majority in both chambers of the Legislature (37-27 in the Senate and 70-62 in the House) to pass a constitutional amendment to the people “resolving” the question of gay marriage. Like NC they have a statute that is in place regardless. That statute is being challenged in the Benderson v. Alvarez case and could be overturned. The Catholic Church in MN said that this is why we need Amendment 1 in MN because of the challenged statute. Something of note is Sen Dibble who said I can’t see how anyone could think that my marriage would hurt someone else. Rep...

An election 4 years in the making

Image
So the election is over and we hope we can get back to business right? Well, after some gloating we did in 2012 and the shellacking we took in 2010 along with the devastation in 2004 that was a mixed blessing I wanted to look back at this Presidential campaign and just laught it up that I ever thought about three of the scariest words in the English Language: President Mitt Romney So, let me start at 2004. I read an article that said that 2004 was a mixed blessing because people got tired of the Republeconomics and voted for a Democratic House in 2006, had Kerry won in 2004 they argued the Republicans would’ve been a stick in the mud and caused obstruction that we are so used to seeing now. That would’ve kerplunked any idea of bipartisanship and President Kerry would’ve taken the heat for it as Bill Clinton did when he ran things. The same way Obama does but now due to the volume of the obstruction and the instantaneousness of the news, we can see the truth and ch...

Doug Preisse: Early Voting Shouldn't Accomodate Urban Voters

Early Voting shouldn’t accommodate the urban vote Video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rL5KzyCEQ1g Someone told me that I was overreacting and playing the race card AGAIN when Doug Priesse said that Early voting shouldn’t accommodate the urban voting machine. However, what did Presisse mean? One person pulled a statistic that Columbus OH is 61% white, but he couldn’t have meant that if Priesse knew of that statistic. I don’t believe I’m playing the race card when in fact it is being played. It is the truth, they don’t want black people voting because we flood the space with Democrats and if we voted every 2 years, we’d keep the State Government Democratic and boot out these losers who feel that consent of the governed doesn’t apply to them So tell me, those who think I’m overreacting, what did Doug Presisse mean when he said the urban vote? How can you definitively say that he didn’t mean black voters, since often times people associate urban areas with the b...

To The NALTs: Start Confronting Your Leaders and Stop Confronting Me

To The NALTs: Start Confronting Your Leaders and Stop Confronting Me Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbA0Iikd3mc I was on a video that called out Dan Savage for his so called bullying of the Christian students who voluntarily showed up to a lecture where they knew the possibility of being offended was great, and they decided to make a point still by walking out assuming that people would notice. When Dan called that pansy assed, I agreed and wouldn’t even have taken it back why? Because when we call out pansy ass behavior, we’re being intolerant, but when they call us pansy assed it’s a joke and everyone should laugh it up. Not impressed So in that, we have a lot of people who say Dan, not all Christians are the hateful, homobashing, want us all dead and thrown behind electric fences, stop us from adopting, getting married then bash us for not wanting to adopt and then get married, then stop us also from any kind of recognition and being any kinds of persons un...

This Election is Crucial!!! Obama 2012!!!

Companion video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EImrPt6_0qs So, Congress is now going to be campaigning, and transportation bills haven’t been passed at all which saw fares around the country go up, drought in the Midwest and West Coast have been getting worse and the House and Senate haven’t been able to get anything done about it. I say the obstructionist Republicans in the House want to use that as a wedge issue against Obama. Never mind they didn’t call the American Jobs Act and the only jobs bills they’ve passed dealt with tax cuts to employers and something about Indian and Chinese labor and that they would want to drill on American soil and deplete our resources just to make a quick buck. But the fact is this: The Obstructionists will end up using all that obstruction for their campaigns and making it seem as if President Obama is a bad leader. Forgetting that Boehner walked out of talks with President Obama and Reid and called the payroll tax cut a “Chicken...

If Republicans were really Pro Life

If Republicans were really Pro Life Companion Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX_KytAMe7Q I’m sick of Pro Life being used to say that a woman doesn’t have the right to her own decisions about her body. They’ve gone through with targeting abortion clinics, killing the doctors, in fact in KS they’re targeting a doctor that didn’t force a 10 year old girl to give birth to her Uncle’s child. They seem to care for the unborn and will ban abortion even in the case of a stillbirth and even if one is medically necessary. Their regard for human life is cruel and they’d let a woman die than have her terminate a pregnancy but I have a bone to pick with Pro Lifers. If you are really pro life Why don’t we see More Spending on Healthcare and Less on Our military, We spend more than our allies and if we cut 10% of our military we could have some mandated relief for schools in urban and poorer areas Give Group Homes expanded programs so that before kids age out of the syst...

The Best Boyfriend is A Girlfriend, I Explain

The Best Boyfriend is a Girlfriend Why? No sexual tension, once you get that out of the way, everything’s cool Just friends Movies, eat, shopping, both of you can say what you like Girl talk You can kee kee about your guys and even double date if you both have someone Have peace of mind Nothing is really at stake, you can relax and hang out without wondering if you look like a blithering idiot, because if you are he can say: You sound like a blithering idiot and how do you respond? By saying, yes it’s true or saying something more offensive to them Closeness There are things only friends can do for each other and things only lovers can do, but a friend has a closeness to you that many people may not be able to breach because of the fact that they don’t have the kind of closeness you’ve got with your ace booncoon. You always know when he’s not being entirely honest with you and you can call him out on it and when he asks why don’t you believe me you ...

Letter to a Bigot

Dear Bigot, Let me say this prior to anything, I am not a God hater, I do not hate Christians, I don’t hate the truth. What I do hate is people using misinformation to harm a minority, what I hate is people using junk science to tell people that gay couples can’t raise a child in a great environment. The same people that do that oppose marriage rights oppose civil unions and any kind of relationship recognition. I hate when people compare me loving a man who is close to my age is like marrying a child, pedophiles already marry they just don’t marry children. Necrophiliacs marry but they don’t marry a corpse. Animals can’t be married to humans. Well, one man in KY married his horse but I don’t think it was valid. Polygamous marriages happen but only one partner is recognized legally, like with gay couples it doesn’t stop people from living together they just aren’t recognized as a unit in the eyes of the law. When you place your religious beliefs above my right to live ...

Dan Savage Panzie A-- Controversy, Kill the Gays Pastor

Image
Hello All, Spencer here, Well today I am giving my two cents about Dan Savage Controversy and mention Amendment 1 in NC and MN, as well as a crazy Pastor's plan to 'kill the gays' Dan Savage So Dan Savage is in hot water with the Religious Right...as he often is but who cares? He says that if we ignore all the things about shellfish, menstruation, diet, clothing and other parts of the Bible that modern society conveniently ignores, why can't we do the same thing with homosexuality? I mean, in church there are abominations walking around all over the place, mixed fabrics!!! SHRIMP!!! NON VIRGIN BRIDES GETTING MARRIED!!! Of course, no person in their right minds would marry their rapist...just had to throw that in there. Let's keep in mind that this Assembly was voluntarily attended So, Dan is saying this and then a group of students start walking out because he's bashing the Bible. He says that "You can tell the Bible g...

"You and Your White Boys"

Hello All, This is something I hear a lot of whenever I spot a guy, who many times just happens to be white who is very attractive to me. I have to say that there are a lot of attractive guys out there and when I see one I'm usually like "Helllooo...." I don't know why that is, but I just say that. As I go about my day, I'm riding on my bike seeing different people, and it being summer time, all the hotties are coming out. Some people just 'got it' and some people like me had to work hard to get that summer body--I say that the summer body isn't just worked on in the summer. So, back to the topic. I don't know why I happen to be attracted to white men most, I just am. I have heard a lot of people say to me on facebook and other mediums that: You are ashamed of your race because you're dating a white man....I tell you, if I were ashamed of my race, I would manifest it in other ways than 'rejecting the black man' In fact my sister on...

The Perils of Dating an Addict

Hello,  When I met him, he was--and is--good looking, he had a job, he was smart, and when he asked me: What kind of guy are you looking for? I said: A guy I can enjoy. I have enjoyed him, but there was a bomb hidden under him that I had an idea about, but thought it was in the past. The reality would bear a different story. I remember meeting him May 17 2008 and then having a date the next day at Friday's, Waterfront then hanging at my house for a short while and when he left, I thought: I really like him. I most certainly did. The next two weeks we were together almost every day, I remember just wanting to be close to him all the time and just texting and calling, waiting for another message from him to come through and just lighting up as I saw Darryl's name as the sender of a message. Then it all just crushed me like a weight when he said on March 31st, that he was going into a rehab. I really liked him, I didn't want to let him go so I said I'd wait and we...

Bashing Back

Image
Hello Everyone, Today I heard about two friends that had been bashed, but they got out okay. However, when the police was called over they said they were off-duty but didn't call police, didn't do anything. They turned on my friends as if they did something to aggravate the men/group of men into attacking them. It's like telling a woman that she deserved to be raped because she was dressed provocatively, only a fool would do so. I could be attacked for simply holding my partner's hand in public or doing anything that would be appropriate if I were with a woman. One episode of Six Feet Under S1E12 A Private Life, shows a man being beaten to death and the perpetrators saying: Read a Bible pervert! Afterward, they talk about being more concerned about HIV/AIDS and not knowing that their son could be killed simply going to the ATM (CeCe McDonald was attacked while trying to go to the store, and many gay men in various states have been attacked leaving a gay bar in thei...

Parker v. Hurley Prental Rights Violation or Elaborate Setup? I'll Explain

Image
Hello everyone, I was researching on Parker v Hurley in which a man was arrested because he didn’t leave his child’s school because he  said that he didn’t want to leave unless he was under arrest. When it came to the media and other Christian Right groups like Mass Resistance, he simply said he was arrested because he didn’t want his children learning that gay marriage is okay.  Now, of course there is a lot that wasn’t told in this whole thing: It was planned because there is a picture of him being lead away in handcuffs as well as footage of him speaking at a Board Meeting about the fact that books like Heather has Two Mommies and King and King were used as materials to teach kids about all kinds of families as well as the fact that two men and women are able to be married in MA. Now, the thing is I don’t see how any one learning about gay marriage in school is really detrimental since they don’t learn much about marriage unless it is being discussed as a matter of fac...

Hilary Rosen v. Ann Romney

Image
Hello, I have heard some things about Hilary Rosen and Ann Romney and I have to say: Mitt Romney just DOESN'T register and resonate with ANYONE, Conservatives are now going to be split between two camps: Camp Gingrich, socially and Camp Ron Paul, fiscally. However, in the last week or two I've been hearing about Hilary Rosen commenting on the fact that Ann Romney has never had a job and has only been a stay at home Mom, so she's out of touch with what working women want and are concerned with. If that is true that she was a stay at home Mom then Rosen's comments are not exactly unwarranted. However, it is not a dig at stay at home Moms becuase of the fact that it wasn't the gist of what she was saying. It was about WORKING WOMEN and the economy, ones that don't come from old money and backgrounds for new money to be constantly flowing in. She never said that being a stay at home Mom wasn't a difficult job, any PARENT gay or straight will tell you that bei...

Can You Be Pro Child and Pro Choice? I submit that you can

Image
I had posted something a while back and I had to talk about one thing: Being pro child and pro choice and the fact that the right wing pro-life, push my agenda on the rest of America we don't want comprehensive sex education because they'll find out that sex feels good and will be able to make good decisions about sex that just differ from the 'traditional' Victorian values we decide should dictate society crowd. I have always made my case this way: I do believe that abortion is murder. I believe that in no uncertain terms. However, when I see these ultrasound bills popping up and the fact that contraceptives are becoming harder and harder to get in states that are more often than not very conservative and many times in tandem religious, I have a lot to say about that. NC is one of the states that an ultrasound bill is being challeneged and has been suspended from enactment. Governor Perdue vetoed it but they were able to override it. In fact, about 300+ bills were i...

Hodge Podge

Image
Hello All, Today I will end up doing a Hodge Podge of posts under different topics. I have a lot to talk about so I'm gonna get right to it Addiction as a Disease--Dis/Ease It is no real news to anyone that talks to me a fair amount of time that I have a boyfriend that is an addict. I love him, he's amazing, but when the issue of addiction comes up, I have to say that I get nervous because I sometimes think that oh no, another rehab. I know I've swore him off many times, but it's easier said than done. I really see him as a man that I will spend the rest of my days with (we have to do something about that smoking of his, but I'm sure we'll figure it out) and I want to raise kids and just live an ordinary civic life like everyone else can. So when I think of addiction as a disease, I think of Chlamydia, Herpes (which is not as big a deal as people make it to be) something that needs a cure. But when I think of Addiction as a disease, I have to say I ...
